Essential oil improve air qualityHere are a couple of interesting statistics surrounding air quality. According to the EPA, we spend 90% of our time indoors. And yet, our indoor environment is two to five times more toxic than the outdoors. (Of course, these statistics don’t generally apply to us Hawaii residents.)

A big part of this is indoor air quality. And with the approach of springtime and the increase in airborne allergens, this becomes an even greater deal.

The good news is that essential oils can be a huge help in improving indoor air quality. Here are just a few of the ways essential oils can help:

1. Removing unpleasant odors

Essential oils can eliminate unpleasant odors in the home, whether these smells come from your bathroom, your pantry, or your kitchen. And when you consider the intense emotional effect aromas and odors have on our health, this is no small feat.

2. Stopping the spread of fungus and molds

Synthetic air fresheners slowly emit harmful chemicals that can have unpredictable negative effects on your health. Essential oils are a natural and safe alternative and they even smell much better than the synthetic stuff!

3. Stopping the spread of harmful bacteria

Airborne bacteria can cause many serious health issues, from respiratory diseases to skin problems. Essential oils have potent antibacterial properties and can stop these harmful bacteria from spreading.

4. Replacing dangerous synthetic air fresheners
