7th (Crown) Chakra Profile

The seventh spiraling energy center in the body is the crown chakra. The Sanskrit name for the crown chakra is Sahasrara, which means thousand petaled lotus or infinite. The seventh chakra is located at the crown of all of the other chakras and represents the connection with the infinite or universe.

The crown chakra is the chakra of faith and prayer and reaches for an intimate relationship with the Divine. This chakra is the main hub of spirituality and how we connect with spirituality. Unlike religion, which is a group of people sharing the same beliefs based on moral values, spirituality is an individual experience of releasing fears based on the physical world and pursuing a personal connection with the Divine.

The crown chakra is located at the top of the head. The chakra is associated with the pineal gland and the cerebrum. This chakra is greatly connected to ones thought process and mental clutter. Meditation helps to open the crown chakra by clearing and quieting the mind, allowing universal energy to flow. When there is a deficiency in the crown chakra, one may be unable to think for themselves, spiritually skeptic, and excessively materialistic. Since the crown chakra is located near the brain and represents thought, it is important to allow the opening of the chakra in order to experience life in a more open-minded sense.

The crown chakra governs the Divine truth of live in the present moment, meaning, to be in bliss during the happenings of Now without being attached to anything. This chakra connects us to the energies of transcendent ideas, mystical connections, prana (grace), inspiration, spiritual insight, and devotion. Devotion is a fundamental energy held within our being that is often neglected by most psychological practices. As human beings, we have a strong desire to be devoted to some sort of Divine energy that is unlimited and magical in nature. We have a prominent inside of us wanting to have an energetic relationship with the cosmic energy, which transcends limitations, fears, suppression, and turmoil. This devotional need can be satisfied with opening of the crown chakra through conscious meditation by allowing Divine energy to flow through your being. When the chakra is open, one will have true Faith in the Divine, meaning, inner guidance, healing insight, and unconditional and universal love and support. The seventh chakra also holds the sacred truth of We are all one. This means that there is no sense of division or separation from spirit or God. This is where one realizes that loneliness, disconnection, and separation are all an illusion, and in fact, we are all a part of everything and everything is a part of us!
